Following their 2013 debut, Wędrujący Wiatr has released another powerful piece of atmospheric black metal. Continuing along the same path as the previous effort, but with notable evolutions in composition and execution, this album cements its place at the top of my list for best metal album of the year. Truly an amazing piece of work.

Faites-vous l'image mentale de quelqu'un en train de hurler pendant deux minutes directement dans vos oreilles sans discontinuer, sans reprendre sa respiration : c'est ainsi que les guitares dissonantes ouvrent le premier album éponyme du groupe australien Hope Drone — et pour reprendre le sample d'un certain album, ils ne faisaient que s'échauffer. Le trio a le cœur lourd et incorpore de la noise dans son post-doom metal pour que le désespoir soit total. Un début tout simplement grandiose !

This is my favorite release by a criminally underrated American black metal project. The astonishing musicianship (this was a one-person band), the way the dense howl of vocals and strings contrast with the spacey 80s Joe Hisaishi keys, the unusual and endlessly creative ways the drum machine is utilized - there's still nothing quite like Petrychor, even now. I've listened to 'Planets Born of Human Ash' a hundred times and the percussion still blows my mind. Cheers, and thanks for the music.
